LIONS 3 V STRETTON SWIFITS 2
Top result for newhall lions to day against a good stretton side .lions road their luck at times this morning but stephen was in fine form in goals .lions were short on chances up front .stretton were pushing lions back in to their own half & had two good chances to take the lead .but it was lions who took the lead just before half time a cool finish by taylor our first real chance
HT 1 - 0 LIONS
The second half was much the same both teams playing some good football .lions were awarded a free kick on the edge of strettons area .just right for skinny .skinny drilled the ball stright at goal & it was to hot to handle for the stretton goal keeper who got his hands on it but not enough 2 - 0 lions .lions then broke strettons off side trap & alex made it 3 - 0 .thats when our problems started lions really must learn to sit back & hold on to what they have got instead we try to push for more goals & let in 2 sloppy goals in the last 5 minutes end result 3 - 2 win lions . 3 - 0 would of flattered us aganist a good stretton side but we did derserve to win so well done to all the boys ..

10/10 for a spirited effort.
With 10 mins to go 3-0 wouldn't have been a fair result the opposition, they missed a lot of good chances early on.
At 2-0 & then a fortunate (offside) 3rd goal we looked comfortable, home & dry - Cruising......
Then we got a bit silly, pushing up again everyone trying to get involved. We lost our shape & discipline all over the park. The midfield lads need to learn to tighten things up HOLD positions & stop the opposition winning the first & second balls uncontested in the middle & then letting then play through us.
This put great pressure on the defence & resulted in 2 deserved & well taken goals. We should defend as a team, not just as a back 5.
Everyone goalside when we havent won the first or second ball.
I think 3-2 was a fair result in the end & we were all glad when the ref blew the whistle.
Well done boys, another 3 points. |

thanks gary for ur coments ur right like i put we must learn to sit on what we have got & just take the win & not chase goals .i dont care if we have 10 defenders if we win
