Newhall FC Eagles 2-0 Little Eaton Ladies

The Newhall girls returned to action against bottom of the league Little Eaton who replace Hilton Harriers at the foot of the table after Hilton pulled out of the league. This in effect cost us two league places and 6 points and we asked the girls to try and get some points on the board to hopefuly secure a midtable finish come the end of the season!

Little Eaton are no pushovers and uptill yesterday they had the leagues top goal scorer with 14 goals in their team. The game started well for the Eagles and after early pressure Ashleigh Cookes shot, after picking up the ball from a corner, was just wide. The Eagles then took the lead with a superb left foot strike from Kiera Dyche, Kiera had battled to keep the ball and then hit the shot that found the top corner of the goal! The Eagles then extended their lead after good work down the right from Rosie Collins and the cross found Amber Hollick unmarked at the back post to slot home. Little Eaton then shot wide and Newhall couldn't get the ball in a shooting position after a bit of ping pong in the Little Eaton area. Chloe Woodward was then in action for Newhall saving well at the foot of her post. Amber could have added to her tally but shot wide just before half time.

HT 2-0

The Eagles again started brightly with Lucy Taylor seeing her shot saved by the keeper after good build up play with Jodie Oughton and then Chloe was called into action making the save of the game, turning the ball over as it looked to be heading for the top corner. Lucy and then Rosie both shot at the keeper and Ella Walker broke through but placed her shot across the face of the goal. Ella was through again shooting at the keeper and then she blazed over when she looked destined to score after taking on two defenders.

Squad - Chloe Woodward, Catherine Smith, Courtney Mcintosh, Chloe Norman, Rosie Collins, Ashleigh Cooke, Kiera Dyche, Amber Hollick, Ella Walker, Sophie Burchell, Jodie Oughton, Lucy Taylor.

POM - Kiera Dyche, superb goal, battled well and great effort!

A great game for the Eagles keeping our second clean sheet of the season with some great defending from Chloe, Catherine, Courtney, Chloe and Sophie recording back to back league victories for the first time in our history!
Also great play through the team creating chances but finding Little Eatons keeper in fine form!
