NEWHALL FC EAGLES 0-1 BURTON ALBION
The Eagles faced a tough quater final against a Burton Albion side that in our short history we have never beaten, Albion are one of the top four sides in our league but the young Eagles made us all proud!
After a scrappy start from both sides the game settled and chances soon came along. Albion saw their first effort hit the post after good closing down from Chloe Woodward in the Eagles goal. Amber Hollick for the Eagles then went on a storming run only to be ushered out for a corner. Ella Walker saw her shot squirm through the keepers legs but no Eagles player was in the box to pick up the loose ball and place it into the empty net. Albion then got the goal that in the end settled the tie, a break from midfield saw the Albion player run into the box and round an outcoming Chloe, the Albion player then looked to have gone too wide but managed to find the empty net with a good finish. Albion could have then extended their lead but chances went wide and over. The Eagles front two then created a fine chance to level, Ella's shot forced the Albion keeper into a great save and the loose ball fell kindly for Amber only to see the Albion defence clear her shot in the six yard box.

The girls continued well in the second half and after being quick off her line to grab the ball at the Albion players feet Chloe released Rosie Collins down the right and again the Albion defenders cleared the danger. Ella then looked to have a clear run on goal but was brought down right on the edge of the box but she couldn't clear the wall with the free kick.
Chloe then produced the save of the game pushing the ball round the post that was heading for the top corner. Ella again full of running saw a fine shot just wide of the post. Both defences played well and there was some superb play form both teams with girls looking confident on the ball and some fantastic tackle's.

Squad - Chloe Woodward, Catherine Smith, Courtney Macintosh, Chloe Norman, Rosie Collins, Ashleigh Cooke, Tia Hylton, Amber Hollick, Ella Walker, Sophie Burchell, Lucy Taylor, Jodie Oughton, Kiera Dyche.
POM - Courtney Macintosh, superb play at the back. Tia Hylton, full of running and worked hard for the team.
This was a superb squad effort from the girls with every player battling for the ball and all having the right attitude on the day. Lets carry this on for the rest of the season!
